Professional Overview

Originally from Andalusia, Alabama, Linda Winkler Pope graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in English in 1986. She then attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University where she earned her J.D. in 1989. After graduating from law school, Linda had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Clarence W. Allgood, United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

Linda went into private practice with the firm of Harris, Evans & Downs. At the beginning of her career, Linda’s practice was mainly focused on defending products liability, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation cases. In 1993 Linda co-founded the firm of Wainwright & Pope. Her primary focus at that time was defending employers throughout the State of Alabama in workers’ compensation cases and other related matters. Since 1993, Linda has provided legal representation to a variety of businesses, both large and small, throughout the State of Alabama.

Representative Experience

  • While in law school, she was a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy.
  • After graduation from law school, Linda had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Clarence W. Allgood, United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
  • Linda was elected to serve as the President of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Alabama State Bar in 2002. Since that time, she has remained very active in the Alabama State Bar Workers’ Compensation Section.
  • Linda is on the planning committee and is a regular speaker for both the University of Alabama School of Law and Cumberland School of Law Continuing Legal Education Workers’ Compensation seminars.
